I have never tried liquid lipsticks. I lived in a world of traditional lipsticks and occasionally ventured into the world of lip glosses for most of my life.
When I heard of the invasion of these alien lipsticks known as liquid lipsticks I was apprehensive, how would this paint-like formula feel good on my lips?

After doing some research and figuring out which liquid lipstick I should start with, I decided on the Kat Von D ones, because I personally love Kat's message and meaning behind all her products, delivering only the best products to us consumers.

I am a massive fan of Lily Melrose, who is a Youtuber and Blogger, and after hearing her absolutely rave about the shades Bow and Arrow and Lolita, it became an obvious decision as to which shades I should order from Sephora Australia.

Firstly, the texture of these lipsticks are incredible. They are super easy to apply and give your lips the feeling of nudity, despite being coated in lipstick. However, make sure your lips aren't dry, as when these liquid lipsticks set it can make a not-so-nice sensation; chapstick before hand is a must.
Also, the colour pigmentation is crazy, one layer and you're set to go. I find these liquid lipsticks do last a loooonnnggg time, way longer than normal lipsticks. I do find they wear off on the middle of your lips first, so touch ups are required, but that is with all lipsticks.

As for the colours, the first is Lolita II, the second generation of one of Kat Von D's best sellers, Lolita. I fell in love with this shade instantly. it's such a beautiful red/mauve shade that gives you the same boss-like feeling of wearing red lipstick without the intensity.

The second shade is Bow and Arrow, which didn't have the same love-at-first-swatch impression.
Honestly at first I wasn't sure of this shade. I liked it but I felt like it was too bold, even though it's probably the visually dullest shade there is. I tried vigorously to sell this shade to my friends, and after being rejected I gave up.
This was a massive case of everything-happens-for-a-reason because after failing at getting rid of this shade I began to fall in love with it's deep nude hue.
And now, it is one of my favourite shades out of all my lipsticks!

Overall I am utterly obsessed with liquid lipsticks, and more specifically, Kat Von D ones. Next time I'm at Sephora I am definitely going to stop by and pick up some more shades.
I am yet to try another brand of liquid lipsticks, as I'm unsure as to whether they will live up to these. Do you have any recommendations?

  3. Beautiful shades, you started with the good stuff! I actually really like the Australis Velourlips, they are really good considering that they are a drug store brand! I have a review of them on my blog if you are interested. I also like the ColourPop liquid lipsticks, but I'm still testing them out at this point, hopefully I'll have a review of those too!
